About the Blog

This blog was originally intended as a space for me to chronicle the events in my family’s life here in Shanghai, one of the world’s biggest, most dynamic cities. And it does get used for that from time to time. But more often than not, I find myself writing about whatever social, theological, or personal issue that happens to be on my mind at the time. When possible, I try to tie it into living in Shanghai, because the discontinuity between the title and the content kind of bugs me. With that said, I hope that whoever happens upon this site will find something encouraging, entertaining, or at least interesting. And of course, feedback is most welcome!

    • Anna and I were just talking about you guys the other day! We’re hoping to get to see you when we visit Georgia in July. We joked that we probably won’t even have to make an effort, considering how I always used to run into Mike at the grocery store! I pray everything’s well with you guys!

(Oh, and you forgot to mention Abby. That’s when you know you’ve got a house full! Ha ha!)

You’re right! I’ll have to give Abby an extra hug and kiss for doing that. Great! We would love to have you over for dinner when you are here in July. (or we could meet at the Wal-mart deli, but I bet the food can’t even begin to compare with what you are eating in China!) Sorry it took me so long to reply. Some how your message missed my radar. Anyway! Really, let’s get together in July. Do you know yet the date you will arrive?

  2. I just came across your blog, perhaps ironically, after googling “progressive christianity shanghai”, and I’ve added it to my feedly. I’m an expat in Shanghai who is something like a progressive Christian, and I think I’ll enjoy reading your reflections. I suppose I’m also working out how living in Shanghai is affecting my faith.

    • Hi there Tom! Welcome to the blog! Sorry for the late reply, but I’ve been without a vpn for a few weeks.

In what part of Shanghai do you live?
